THIS...
yeap. my hw for today was to watch a movie:)
WITNESS
directed by an Australian director, Peter Weir back in 1985,
Witness is about a cop named John Book(Harrison Ford) who is forced into going into hiding to protect a young Amish boy, the sole eye witness of a gruelsome murder of an undercover cop.
What's amish?Amish are Christian religious denomination, notably found in the Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana. they're people who live simple lives, wear plain dress, and put up an resistance to modern living.
They move around in horse carriages and live in farms. they do not hv electricity, nor do they hv any modern technology. They are not allowed to accept modern technology into their lives, as part of the ordnung also known as the rules of the church.their church.
Women wear calf-length plain-cut dresses in a solid color. Aprons are often worn at home, usually in white or black, and are always worn when attending church. A cape is usually worn, beginning around the teenage years, and pinned into the apron.
Men typically wear dark-colored trousers, some with a dark vest or coat, suspenders, broad-rimmed straw hats in the warmer months, and black felt hats in the colder months. Married men and those over forty grow a beard. Moustaches are forbidden, because they are associated with European military officers and militarism in general!
However, BUTTONS are prohibited. why? because buttons are deemed to be...showy and not-plain. as there are different designs for buttons, different types of buttons and so on.
cool isn't it? i mean.wow. they seem unreal. but THEY ARE.
so yeah. watching that movie, was my homework(: coz in the exam, there's this section where u're supposed to like write about something to do with sense of individuality and belonging with reference with that movie. so yup. that's about it.
(:
i wanna be your one and only
